IMPORTANT – PRINTER SETUP & PRINT QUALITY

Direct thermal printers use heat to create the printed image on the label. The printhead heats the thermal coating on the paper, causing it to darken and create the printed text, graphics and barcode. Because different thermal label materials and coatings react differently to heat, the correct Darkness / Density / Heat setting can vary depending on: • Printer model • Printer driver • Print speed • Label material • Thermal coating • Printer condition

LABELS PRINTING FADED OR TOO LIGHT?

If your labels are printing faded, too light or the barcode is not dark enough, this can normally be corrected by increasing the Darkness / Print Density / Heat setting. Increase the setting gradually until the text, graphics and barcodes print clearly and consistently. A lighter print does not automatically mean the labels are defective. In most cases, the thermal printer simply needs more heat applied to the label coating.

BRAND-SPECIFIC PRINTER GUIDE

ZEBRA / ZDESIGNER PRINTERS

If you are using a Zebra / ZDesigner thermal printer, you may need to increase the Darkness / Print Density / Heat setting before using these labels. Zebra direct thermal printers create the printed image by applying heat from the printhead to the heat-sensitive coating on the thermal paper. Because our labels use a quality coated thermal paper, the standard or default Zebra printer setting may sometimes be too low.

• Recommended Setting: We recommend increasing the Darkness / Print Density to approximately 25 as a starting point, where your Zebra printer or driver uses this setting range.

• How to adjust: Open your Zebra printer's Printing Preferences, printer driver or ZDesigner printer settings and look for a setting called Darkness, Print Darkness, Density, Print Density, or Heat. Print a test label and check the barcode and text. If the print is still too light, increase the darkness gradually. If the print becomes excessively dark, blurred or overheated, reduce the setting slightly.

ROLLO PRINTERS

Open your Rollo printer settings, Printing Preferences or Rollo software and look for the Darkness / Density / Print Quality setting. Increase the setting gradually until a clear, dark print is achieved.

MUNBYN PRINTERS

Open the MUNBYN printer settings or Printing Preferences and locate the Darkness / Density / Print Density setting. Increase the value gradually until the print is clear.

PHOMEMO PRINTERS

Open the Phomemo printer driver, app or Printing Preferences and look for Darkness / Density / Print Quality. Increase the setting gradually if your labels are printing too lightly.

BROTHER THERMAL LABEL PRINTERS

Open the Brother printer driver or Printer Setting Tool and look for the relevant Print Density / Print Quality setting. Increase the density gradually until the print is clear.

OTHER THERMAL PRINTERS

Most thermal label printers have an adjustable print setting. Depending on the manufacturer, this may be called Darkness, Print Darkness, Density, Print Density, Print Quality, or Heat. Open your printer's Printing Preferences, Printer Driver, Manufacturer Utility, or Printer App and increase the appropriate setting gradually.

TROUBLESHOOTING COMMON SETUP ISSUES

FEEDING BLANK LABELS OR SKIPPING LABELS?

If your printer feeds an extra blank label, skips labels or does not stop in the correct position, run your printer's Label Calibration, Media Calibration, or Label Learning feature (the exact name varies depending on the printer manufacturer). Also make sure your printer's media type is set to Gap / Labels / Die-Cut and not Continuous. We recommend running the printer calibration or label-learning function after installing a new roll, particularly if you previously used a different label size or label material.

PRINTING TOO SMALL, CROPPED OR ACROSS TWO LABELS?

Make sure 100 x 150mm / 4 x 6 inch is selected in both your printer settings and the software, marketplace or courier platform you are printing from.

• Recommended Settings:

  • Label Size: 100 x 150mm / 4 x 6 inch

  • Orientation: Portrait

  • Scale: Actual Size / 100%

  • Media Type: Gap / Labels / Die-Cut

  • Margins: None / Minimum If the print preview shows a small shipping label sitting on a large A4 or Letter page, go back to your selling platform or courier software and select its 4x6 / thermal label format before printing.
